Precision Envenomation Technologies Initiative

Engineering faster answers and better tools for envenomation medicine.

PrismVeno develops precision fluidic systems for rapid venom diagnostics, antivenom workflow support, and human-relevant research platforms.

Technology Programs

Three platforms. One engineering mission.

Each program addresses a distinct gap in envenomation medicine — from point-of-care identification to antivenom logistics to human-relevant research.

Research Program

VenoSense / VenoChip

A microfluidic lateral-flow cartridge platform designed to identify venom type at the point of care — enabling faster, more targeted clinical decisions.

Why Engineering Matters

The missing discipline in envenomation medicine.

Envenomation medicine has long been shaped by toxicologists, clinicians, and biologists — but the tools required to deliver better outcomes are fundamentally engineering problems. Microfluidic channel design, precision fluid handling, biosensor integration, human factors, and scalable manufacturability are mechanical and biomedical engineering disciplines.

PrismVeno was founded on the thesis that applying rigorous engineering methodology to these unsolved problems — not incremental biology — is the fastest path to diagnostics that work in the field, antivenom workflows that reduce waste and error, and research platforms that generate human-relevant data.

Every PrismVeno platform is designed from first principles: what does the clinician, researcher, or field medic actually need, and what is the most reliable, manufacturable, and deployable way to deliver it?

~2.7M

Envenomations annually (global estimate)

~138K

Deaths per year from snakebite alone
